The Home- and Community-Based Services Provider Loan Redemption Program (HCBSP-LRP) is administered by the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) and New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF). The program offers up to $50,000 in student loan redemption to professionals serving individuals with medical conditions, mental health and substance use disorders, or disabilities in exchange for 12 months of service at a State-funded home- and community-based provider agency in one of the following categories:
Program Eligibility:
Applicants must work in one of the following professions at a State-funded home- and community-based provider agency to qualify for this program:
- Board Certified Behavior Analysts
- Board Certified Behavior Analysts - Doctoral
- DCF Care Managers
- DCF Mobile Crisis Workers
- Licensed Clinical or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors
- Licensed or Associate Marriage and Family Therapists
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers
- Licensed Practical Nurses
- Licensed Professional or Associate Counselors
- Licensed Psychologists
- Licensed Social Workers
- Psychiatric Nurse Mental Health Clinical Specialists
- Psychiatrists
- Registered Nurses
Applicants must also meet all of the following criteria:
- Be employed full-time (at least 35 hours per week) in an eligible profession by a State-funded home- and community-based provider agency throughout the duration of the program;
- Maintain a current license/board certification, as applicable, to practice in New Jersey throughout participation in the program;
- Maintain employment at the State-funded home- and community-based provider agency in an eligible profession for a minimum of 12 months after acceptance into the Program by HESAA (pursuant to the terms of a contract with HESAA), and as part of your ongoing job duties, provide direct services to clients that require the use of your eligible license, certification, or other State-required qualification;
- Not be in default on any eligible qualifying student loan; and
- Not currently be participating in any other student loan redemption program administered by HESAA or in the federally-administered National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program.
